In 2024, Polaris Lighting presented its completed project for Ozone Skybar & Lounge, one of Sofia’s most recognisable panoramic venues. Situated on the 29th floor of Grand Hotel Millennium Sofia, the bar offers remarkable views across the city and towards Vitosha Mountain. This panorama naturally becomes part of the interior, making it essential for the lighting to complement the view without competing with the city lights visible through the glazed façades.
Ozone Skybar & Lounge combines panoramic seating, comfortable lounge areas and two terraces with opening roofs. Throughout the day and evening, the venue can transition from a relaxed setting for meetings and cocktails to a dynamic destination for music and events. Its lighting therefore needs to perform convincingly in different situations, providing visibility, defining intimate areas around the tables and maintaining the venue’s sophisticated contemporary character.
The project incorporates products developed specifically for the architecture and interior of Ozone Skybar & Lounge. Among the principal solutions are WALL WASHER spotlights, which distribute light across vertical surfaces and reveal their textures. Illuminated walls give the interior additional depth and establish visual reference points during the darker evening hours. Graphic lines of light complement the geometry of the space and contribute to the bar’s distinctive identity.
Decorative lighting plays a central role in the character of Ozone Skybar & Lounge. The selected pendants and chandeliers are not simply functional light sources but memorable elements within the overall composition. Clusters of transparent spheres introduce lightness and movement, reflect the surrounding illumination and add sparkle to the more intimate lounge areas. Suspended luminaires positioned at different heights create rhythm and guide attention towards the bars, tables and relaxation zones.
LOTUS downlights are integrated into the general and accent lighting scheme. Their soft illumination fits discreetly into the ceiling and complements the decorative luminaires without visually overwhelming the interior. The light is arranged in layers, allowing the atmosphere to remain intimate while faces, tables and circulation routes receive the illumination they require.
PET felt acoustic panels form another important part of the solution. In a venue combining music, conversation and numerous hard surfaces, sound control makes a meaningful contribution to guest comfort. The panels improve the acoustic environment while participating in the ceiling design through their organic shapes and carefully selected colour accents.
The result is a lighting environment that supports the different scenarios of Ozone Skybar & Lounge and emphasises its exceptional position above Sofia. Through bespoke products, WALL WASHER spotlights, LOTUS downlights, decorative luminaires and acoustic panels, Polaris Lighting created an atmosphere in which light, architecture, sound and the panoramic city view work together as a complete experience.
