Polaris Lighting delivered the lighting solutions for Staria Chinar – Cherno More, located inside Varna’s landmark Hotel Cherno More. The project called for lighting that could support the dynamics of a large restaurant while preserving a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The result is a carefully balanced environment in which functional light does not overpower the interior but enhances its materials, colours and distinctive decorative details.
The restaurant is arranged across two floors and includes several dining rooms, a spacious bar and a children’s area. In addition to everyday lunches and dinners, the venue hosts private celebrations, corporate events and business meetings. This diversity presented an important lighting challenge: each area needed its own character while remaining part of one coherent visual concept.
Adjustable lighting precisely directed above the tables
Black track systems with adjustable spotlights form the foundation of the solution. The tracks follow the architectural geometry of the ceilings and integrate naturally with the dark metal framework used throughout the interior. The adjustable heads allow the light to be directed precisely above the tables and repositioned when the furniture arrangement or use of a particular area changes.
The focused illumination creates individual islands of comfort, helping guests feel at ease even within the larger dining rooms. It brings out the warm tones of the natural timber, upholstered surfaces, decorative wall panels and colourful furnishings. The tables become visual focal points, while the surrounding space retains a pleasant and unobtrusive lighting atmosphere.
Decorative accents and layered illumination
The functional lighting is complemented by a variety of decorative accents. Circular pendant luminaires, chandeliers and grouped pendants identify key areas and give the individual rooms their own personality. In the more intimate seating zones, decorative light works together with timber finishes, upholstered furniture and wall details to create a sense of completeness and visual depth.
A composition of pendants in different colours introduces a more informal and dynamic accent near the bar. Indirect illumination around the ceiling edges softens the overall scene and connects the individually lit areas. The combination of focused, diffused and decorative light allows the interior to retain its identity during the day, when the large windows admit natural light, as well as during evening service.
Lighting that supports the complete guest experience
The Staria Chinar – Cherno More project demonstrates how carefully selected lighting can unite multiple spaces with different functions. The technical solutions provide the necessary flexibility, while the decorative luminaires build a memorable atmosphere and direct attention towards important architectural and interior details.
Through this project, Polaris Lighting combines functionality and aesthetics in a complete lighting composition. The light does more than provide visibility: it emphasises the architecture, complements the modern interior and creates a warm environment in which guests can enjoy lunch, dinner or a special occasion.
