In 2021, 042 Bar&Dinner opened at 27 Ruski Boulevard in the centre of Stara Zagora. Its concept brings together international cuisine, a bar, spaces for private celebrations and facilities for corporate events. The interior therefore needs to perform equally well during a relaxed lunch, an evening meal, cocktails or a more dynamic entertainment programme. The lighting delivered by Polaris Lighting connects these different functions and establishes a warm, elegant and recognisable atmosphere.
The lighting solution is composed of several layers. Specially designed luminaires give the space an individual identity, while decorative pendants and chandeliers introduce a classic character into the contemporary interior. Ceiling lights provide uniform general illumination and visual comfort around the tables, while LED spotlights draw attention to artwork, plants, the bar and selected architectural details.
One of the strongest elements is the composition of linear luminaires across the ceiling. The illuminated lines extend above the seating areas, emphasise the depth of the room and establish a clear visual rhythm. They are combined with circular decorative fixtures that soften the strict geometry and prevent the interior from appearing overly technical. This balance keeps the restaurant comfortable and easy to navigate without allowing the lighting to overpower the food, conversations or furnishings.
The restaurant combines a main dining room, bar seating, more intimate corners and a separate event space. Each area has its own character while remaining part of the same overall lighting composition. Decorative luminaires above the tables create a closer and more inviting scale. In the open areas, ceiling fixtures and linear lighting provide the necessary uniformity, while spotlights shape individual scenes and highlights. The environment can therefore move naturally from a daytime setting to an evening atmosphere and support the different events organised by 042 Bar&Dinner.
Plants are an important part of the interior, and the lighting transforms them into a living decorative layer. Small warm light sources placed among the greenery create the impression of a garden, while the decorative fixtures add softness and visual comfort. The dark ceiling provides a calm background against which the illuminated lines and individual luminaires stand out clearly. Different furniture styles, colours and materials remain visible without disrupting the overall composition.
With the 042 Bar&Dinner project, Polaris Lighting demonstrates how restaurant lighting can perform functional, decorative and emotional roles at the same time. Uniform illumination provides comfort for guests and staff, accent lighting directs attention, and decorative luminaires shape the identity of the venue. The result is a welcoming environment that supports the restaurant’s idea of presenting familiar experiences in a new way, transforming every visit – from a weekday lunch to a special event – into a complete spatial experience.
