In 2025, Polaris Lighting delivered the professional lighting for the new The Martini Food & Cocktails venue at Hotel Cherno More in Varna. The space brings together a restaurant, a cocktail bar and an evening music programme, meaning that its lighting needs to support a variety of experiences – from relaxed daytime dining to a more energetic atmosphere after sunset. The glass roof and extensive glazed surfaces introduce abundant daylight, while carefully selected lighting accents give the interior a completely different character in the evening.
The primary objective for the Polaris Lighting team was to create a welcoming and sophisticated environment without competing with the interior’s distinctive visual identity. The completed solution combines warm lighting effects, functional illumination and precisely directed accents. This approach provides visual comfort for visitors while giving the dining tables, bar and architectural compositions a clear presence. The integrated lighting systems are energy-efficient and flexible enough to meet the changing requirements of a contemporary hospitality venue.
Rather than relying on uniform general illumination, the project uses several complementary layers of light. Compact adjustable spotlights are discreetly incorporated into the structure around the glazed roof. They direct attention towards selected interior features without becoming visually dominant themselves. During the day, the artificial light complements the natural illumination entering through the glass. In the evening, it reveals the colours, materials and depth of the space more clearly.
In the dining areas, light is concentrated where it is needed while maintaining a comfortable sense of intimacy. Softer background illumination and brighter accents on individual elements establish a clear visual hierarchy. This helps guests understand the different zones of the venue and ensures that the interior remains engaging when viewed from different positions.
The bar is one of the principal visual focal points at The Martini. Internally illuminated shelves create a bright background against which bottles and glass details stand out clearly. Warm reflections add depth and transform this functional area into an important part of the decorative composition. The solution supports the activities behind the bar while attracting attention and strengthening the sophisticated character of the cocktail experience.
One of the interior’s most memorable elements is the large illuminated composition featuring blue and golden tones. It serves as a visual landmark and introduces colour among the darker and reflective finishes. Even illumination reveals the structure of the decorative surface and turns it into a natural background for social gatherings, photographs and evening events.
Mirrored spheres, circular decorative forms and reflections across the glass and metallic finishes introduce an additional sense of movement. The appearance of the light changes as visitors move through the venue, creating constantly shifting views of the interior. These details express The Martini’s evening personality without taking away from the elegance required for daytime dining.
The Martini Food & Cocktails project demonstrates how technical and decorative lighting can operate as one coherent system. The solution delivered by Polaris Lighting highlights the interior concept, provides comfort around the tables and bar, and supports the transition from daytime dining to a vibrant evening destination. The result is a modern, energy-efficient and memorable environment in which light is more than a practical requirement – it is an essential part of the guest experience.
