Polaris Lighting designed and supplied the interior lighting for Advance Center – WTB in Sofia. Completed in 2020, the project combines uniform functional illumination with distinctive decorative accents. We selected recessed S-LINE linear systems, minimalist PIPE pendant luminaires and HEXAGON ceiling lights for the different interior spaces.
Advance Business Center II is located in Sofia’s Mladost 4 district, immediately next to Business Park Sofia and its metro station. The building comprises ten office floors above the ground level, three underground parking levels and approximately 17,450 m² of gross floor area above ground. Its typical office floors can be arranged as large open-plan spaces or divided between several tenants.
The architectural design was developed by Planning, led by architect Iliyan Iliev. A recognisable composition of rotated rectangular volumes gives the building a dynamic silhouette, while the extensive glazed façades bring natural light into the office areas. The complex holds LEED Gold certification and combines contemporary architecture, energy efficiency and a flexible working environment.
In 2020, Advance Business Center II received a special prize in the Office and Corporate Buildings category of Bulgaria’s Building of the Year competition. The interior lighting follows the same commitment to functionality, sustainability and a strong architectural identity.
The lighting solution is built around recessed linear LED luminaires from the S-LINE series. The clean geometry enables the system to integrate discreetly into the ceiling and emphasise the direction and proportions of the interior. Light therefore becomes part of the spatial composition without introducing unnecessary visual weight.
The continuous lines provide uniform light distribution and help reduce sharp transitions between different parts of the rooms. This is particularly important in an office environment, where good visibility and visual comfort need to be maintained throughout the working day.
To introduce a more expressive decorative element, we included PIPE pendant LED luminaires. Their elongated cylindrical form creates a counterpoint to the horizontal lines of the interior and directs light towards selected points. Their minimalist design allows them to be installed individually or arranged in compositions of several luminaires.
PIPE adds character without compromising the professional appearance of the space. Its directed light creates a more intimate atmosphere in selected areas and establishes a visual rhythm that complements the general illumination.
HEXAGON ceiling luminaires are used as central accents in key parts of the interior. Their geometric shape enables the creation of individual fixtures or larger modular arrangements. Surface mounting makes each luminaire a visible part of the design and introduces another graphic layer to the ceiling composition.
HEXAGON combines effective general illumination with a distinctive decorative presence. The model can be finished in different RAL colours and combined with acoustic elements of the same shape, providing additional opportunities to adapt the system to the specific interior concept.
Combining S-LINE, PIPE and HEXAGON gives each part of the interior an appropriate balance between working light and visual identity. The completed project demonstrates Polaris Lighting’s approach to office environments: careful planning, solutions selected according to function and lighting integrated as a natural part of the architecture.
